I am Lindiwe Msiza, founder of A Nation of Light, a global inclusion movement dedicated to advancing accessibility, dignity, and equal opportunity for differently abled communities. I am championing this campaign to celebrate Blind SA’s remarkable 80-year milestone and to honour the people who have worked tirelessly to support blind and partially sighted communities across South Africa.
For eight decades, Blind SA has promoted accessibility, independence, and inclusion. Through accessible information in Braille, DAISY and large print, advocacy for equal rights, and programmes that empower people living with vision loss, Blind SA has helped thousands of individuals access education, opportunity and dignity.
This campaign is a tribute to the many people who have quietly carried this work forward. It is our way of saying: “I see you. I thank you.”
Vision loss continues to grow globally due to ageing populations, diabetes-related complications, preventable eye conditions, and limited access to early screening—particularly in underserved communities. As the need grows, so does the demand for accessible learning materials, advocacy and national outreach.
Your support will help expand Braille production, strengthen accessible learning resources, support advocacy for accessibility and inclusion, and sustain Blind SA’s national programmes that serve blind and partially sighted communities.
To celebrate 80 years of impact, we are inviting you to join us in honouring this milestone by giving. A contribution of R80 / $80 over 8 months, or a once-off gift of R800 / $800, helps continue the work that has empowered so many lives. Organisations and companies can also support this initiative through contributions of R8,000 / $8,000 or R80,000 / $80,000 as partnership support.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure that people living with vision loss can continue to access education, information, opportunity and inclusion.
When you give, you help carry forward a legacy of service that has spanned 80 years.
