RE: Motivation Ntshavheni Netshituni
Ntshavheni Netshituni is on the short list of 103 candidates identified to fill the vacant post as commissioner for the SA Human Rights Commission. Please find below a brief motivation to support his nomination. Should you be inclined to support his nomination, please send your email to Mr V Ramaano at Sahrc@parliament.gov.za by no later than Friday, 6 October 2023 at 16h00.
The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services has called for public input on the suitability of candidates that applied or were nominated as four full-time and two part-time Commissioners at the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Committee Chairperson, Mr Bulelani Magwanishe, said the CVs of candidates from applications and nominations received by the committee are now available on the parliamentary website to allow members of the public to comment on the suitability of these candidates.
The objects of the SAHRC are to promote respect for human rights and a culture of human rights, to promote the protection, development, and attainment of human rights and to monitor and assess the observance of human rights in the Republic. The seat of the Commission is in the Gauteng Province.
The nominee/applicant must:
• be a South African citizen and fit and proper person to hold office of the Commission, as contemplated in section 193(1) of the Constitution;
• have a record of commitment to the promotion of respect for human rights and a culture of human rights;
• be a person with applicable knowledge or experience with regards to matters connected with the objects of the Commission; and
• Comply with any other requirements prescribed by national legislation, in particular section 5 (b) the South African Human Rights Commission Act, 2013.

Blind SA Motivation for Ntshavheni Netshituni
Ntshavheni Netshituni completed his masters in LLB at Unisa. Mr Netshituni is the President of Blind SA and the immediate past Chairperson of SA Disability Alliance and SA Braille Authority. He is conversant with the CRPD and the WPRPD. His cv is on the Parliamentary link.
