Blind SA Assists in Local Government Elections 2021
Alberton, 29 October 2021. As part of their mandate to champion the cause of blind people, Blind SA will be assisting in the 2021 Local Government Elections, ensuring that the rights of the blind are recognized during these elections.
As part of their assistance, Blind SA will be sending delegates to different voting stations around the country to observe the voting process and ensure that it is accessible for people with disabilities, the blind in particular. These delegates will be ensuring that voting stations have Universal Ballot Templates (UBT’s) that make it possible for the blind to exercise their right to vote.
You are therefore invited to a zoom meeting hosted by the executive of Blind SA, in this meeting we will a presentation from an IEC representative on the 2021 Local Government elections, a presentation on ballot paper education and the use of Universal Ballot Templates (UBT’s), as well as a presentation on knowing your rights as a blind and partially sighted individual.
